More Lousy Church Signs

Out tooling around with the family over the past several days and came across some lousy church signs.
COME IN AND FEEL THE LOVE OF GOD.

What? You mean...in there?

FORBIDDEN FRUITS CREATE MANY JAMS.

Actually, they are much better in marmalades.

GOD WANTS TO BE YOUR SOUL PROVIDER.

Who knew God was a Michael Bolton fan?

MAMAS, DON'T LET YOUR BABIES GROW UP TO BE PAGANS.

Or a Waylon and Willie fan?

And one of my favorites:

CHURCH FOR RENT AFTER THE RAPTURE.

No comment necessary.

Feel free to lambaste any as you see fit.

Loved the Michael Bolton comment!! LOL That's too funny.

So, after the rapture, who would the tenants pay rent to????

I can think of several, but I absolutely hate to see "Don't Worry -- Moses Was a Basket Case Too!"

:P

So where do these church sign phrases come from? Are these made up by local churches or is there some website for them?

Steve,

That was ONE of the multiplicity of problems with that sign.

Heather,

Yeah, after a while, silliness gives way to sheer stupidity.

Streak,

Actually, both. Some people from churches make up their own, and then there are websites. I am thankful the church I serve doesn't have a marquee sign.

This is a good one!

great website, Tony. Thanks. Before blogs hit it big, I had an idea for a coffee table book of pictures of church signs. This is really better.

I think one of the worst I ever saw was one Easter a local church had, "He is not here for He is risen."

Kind of a strong self-indictment don't you think?

Gordon,

Gee-whiz! I wonder how much more effective a "sign ministry" could be if the folks who put them up just simply thought through what they were saying.

Gordon, I laughed quite hard at that one. Toooooo funny!!

by the way, I keep thinking there's got to be some kind of joke in all of this regarding "sign gifts" and cessationism....as in, maybe this is proof that the "sign gifts" really have ceased! ;)

Steve,

I will concede that these sign gifts definitely have ceased!
