Waynesville Church Fire

Hat tip to my blog and real life friend Karma for pointing to this video. Deacon chair of the church I serve called early this morning to pray for this situation. Our prayers are with Pastor Jack Holland and the membership and community surrounding Barberville Baptist Church.

Wow! How sad. Will certainly be praying for the pastor and congregation. I know God can get glory out of situations like this.

I drove by it today (picture later on my blog -- but that is not to say I support driving and photographing at the same time).

very sad looking.

there were a lot of people standing around and looking totally dismayed and shocked.

Cameron,

Thanks, brother. I know the brethren there will appreciate the prayers and the good thoughts.

Karma,

We drove by there this evening--tragic to say the least. I still wonder what if any damage was done to the sanctuary.

the citizen times was reporting on their website this afternoon that the sanctuary was okay. they weren't sure if they could still have homecoming in it Sunday or not, but they were thinking about it.

Thanks for sharing the video clip and then seeing Karma's pictures. As a former fireman, I can assure you (from the pictures) they threw everything they had at that fire! When you see them dragging out the massive 4 or 6 inch lines, you know they gave it everything! And notice, it takes two or three to drag those lines!

Thankfully, the sanctuary was saved! God is good!

Karma,

We saw what looked like Calvary Road unloading a tent. Maybe they'll have services under the big top.

M. Steve,

You're the man! And thankfully, the sanctuary was saved. I'm sure there is smoke damage, so I pray it is easily fixable.

Interesting tidbit -- Calvary Road is a "split" from Barberville, so lotsa history for the CR people as well. . ..
