Important Books (To Me)

Other than the Bible, what books have had a profound influence on you, shaping the way you live and act as a Christian, the way you believe, do ministry, and relate to others? Five books have been especially significant to me (in no particular order).
  1. Knowing God, J.I. Packer
  2. Overcoming the World, Joel Beeke
  3. A Passion for Prayer, Tom Elliff
  4. Every Man's Battle, Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker
  5. Ministering Like the Master, Stuart Olyott
What books have had a profound influence on you and your walk with Christ?

Sit Walk Stand by Watchman Nee,
My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers, Don't Take My Grief Away, Healing for Damage Emotions, Making it Right When You Feel Wronged by Jeff Wickwire, Secrets of the Vine, Life God Rewards, Streams In the Desert by Mrs. Charles E. Cowman.

Thanks for asking. Blessings upon you and your little bunnies, Tony. selahV

Thanks for stopping in! Anything by Nee is good and of course Chambers is excellent. You and I have talked about him before.

Secrets of the Vine was OK; I'm a little biased against Bruce Wilkinson because of that little hermenuetical nightmare Prayer of Jabez. I skipped A Life God Rewards. Haven't heard of the other book, but if you recommend it, it ought to be good.

My bunnies are doing GREAT! Especially the littlest one. Spoiled. Absolutely spoiled. Its shameful, that's what that is.

Anonymous,

Thanks for dropping in. That seems like a fine list. I am not familiar with the one by Briner and Pritchard but with your recommendation, I may check it out.

FP,

Man, that is an impressive list. I only have one question: Where in the world do you find time to read??!!??

I don't read nearly as much as I would like. I'll keep this list handy though. There are some titles I have been considering, some i have already read, and some I might not make it to. :)

Thanks for sharing that list.

Tony I am self-employed. I make my own schedule adn reading is a passion much like fighting. I have often said the perfect conversation to me is talking about the Bible or fighting. If I am lucking I get to talk about both. So I make time to read. I am reading quite a few books right now. It also helps that when I was in college (not so much now) I was reading over 1000 words a minute with 90% comprehension.
