IT'S A BOY!!!!!

Mere words cannot express the joy and excitement in my heart. As most of my blog friends and regular readers know, I am the proud daddy of four little girls, ages nine, six, four, and two. My wife is expecting our fifth child and we were pleased to discover today, my wife being nineteen weeks and five days, that we are expecting our first BOY! Notice in the picture to the left that he is waving to us and might be giving us the thumbs up; "Every thing's OK in here. How are you all out there?" Notice the little guy looks just like me, doesn't he? Wait...everybody in the blogosphere thinks I look like a car...

Imagine that, I am going to have a son! We have to go buy all new clothes, not to mention that I need to buy fishing poles (a priority), baseball gloves, balls, and bats, and I need to put a .22 rifle away. Or maybe a 20 gauge. And a chocolate lab. Matchbox cars. I need Matchbox cars! And Tonka trucks...a football, and there is this great trebuchet in the Vision Forum catalog I can now get with adequate justification..."Honey, our son needs that trebuchet!!!"

I enjoy playing baby dolls, having tea parties ["I am Mrs. Nesbitt! Tell me I look good in the hat!" (Blog satisfaction to who can name that movie quote!)], and Little People. Now it will be cowboys, army men, tanks, and mud. It's a boy! And in the picture below, you have a shot of the proof, that infamous turtle every daddy looks and hopes for in the ultrasound room! Its been "Big Macs" the last four times, but there you have it!

How wonderful for you and your wife! The ultrasound picture is so amazing...makes me want one!
Unfortunately , I believe I do know the movie you quoted...Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story.(Am I right?) Trust me...I've spent many a day watching Disney flicks with my son and that was one of his faves.
Thanks so much for sharing your news. We are very happy for you!

That's super Tony! Congratulations. We have three girls and I don't think there will be any more tries. He will be blessed having all those big sisters. Just try to keep him out of their dress ups and make up!
Blessings,

TONY: that poor little fella! All those girls to mother him. Oh my goodness. He'll be spoiled rotten. I have one question, how come ya didn't take your daughters fishing? My granddaughters love to go fishing. My son taught his girls to play with every bug under the sun. they love worms and roly-polys.
Congratulations! You picked out a name yet? selahV

Christy,

Well, go get one! :)

Thank you for the wonderful words of encouragement. And yep-Toy Story!

Susan,

If my memory serves me correctly, this is your first comment on my blog. Welcome! Thanks for the link, I will drop by. You are right on-he will be blessed.

Make up and dress-up will be a non issue unless he is dressing out in camo's.

Selah V,

Take heart, I do take my girls fishing. It just isn't the same though. I put on the worms, crickets, etc. They catch the fish, then I have to take it off the hook. My wife is just as bad.

"Ewwwwww! I ain't touching that!!!!!" They want to fish but not do any of the work, ya know? Needless to say, I get no fishing in because I am running back and forth between three other poles; the bottom two aren't quite old enough for it yet. They just play in the mud, which is OK by me.

And my then-three year old, I had to fish her out of the water last summer. THAT WAS FUNNY! (But only after the fact.)It went like this..."Honey, she's (bloop) going in!"

Heather,

Thanks!! Toy Story-yep! And I am excited!

Good job, Tony! Yes, you will need to invest heavily in all of the necessary fishing and outdoor equipment. They may even have camo diapers in a few months ... you never know.

Like you, I currently live in a house of women. One wife, two teen-age daughters, one dog, one cat ... all females. But, at 42, I am out of the baby business. :)

CONGRATULATIONS TONY! But you'll need to be a little patient getting "your" boy. As Brewmaster is quick to point out to everyone, that baby is definitely Mama's the first year or so. Then after that, though, it's all about Dad--you hope!

Have fun shopping!

Heather,

I cannot wait to get into all that stuff! It will give me a good excuse to buy it all now! My girls are already into Thomas, so that won't be a tough transition.

Geoff,

Brother, you haven't seen Father of the Bride 2, have you? Can you say mid-life crisis???

Just kidding! Yeah, the estrogen levels rage pretty high here, too, though not nearly as high as you have it with two teenagers! Just think, though, I will have four teens in the house at one time. Somebody pass the Advil.

HM,

I was hoping to hear from you! Yeah, you're right--my boy will be mama's for a while. But then I get him! Mud, trucks, army men, sling shots!

I feel a Tim Taylor kind of grunt coming on!

Thanks everyone for the kind words! God bless you all!

Tony,
Not sure how I missed this post for so long, but CONGRATULATIONS! As the father of two sons, I know how great it is. You've got a lot of good times to look forward to.
(Just spent an hour mountain biking with my son yesterday.)

I'll be praying for you, your wife, and your son.

Cameron,

Wow! Thanks for the prayers. I have cultivated a lot of great memories with my girls, but all my friends with sons say that there is something special about the relationship between a father and son. I absolutely cannot wait!
